Types of Services

 


Basic Literacy
program, learning to read and write,
one-on-one with a trained tutor.


English for Speakers of Other Languages program
(ESL)
, in small groups and individually.

Individual or group tutoring sessions, to improve reading and writing skills or to help with preparing
for the GED exam.

Who We Serve

Prospective students must be over 16 years old, not eligible to be enrolled in public school.

  • They can be adults who cannot read and write or adults who want to improve their reading and writing skills.
  • They can be adults from other countries who cannot read, speak, or write the English language.
  • They can also be parents or care givers who want to improve their ability to help increase the literacy proficiency of their children.

All services are free of charge to students.

Tutoring is offered at safe locations at times convenient to both student and tutor, to be arranged on an individual basis.

Literacy Volunteers of Bastrop (L.V.B.) gives top priority to providing complete confidentiality for its students, tutors, and volunteers. LV.B. participants will be careful not to reveal a student's identity against his or her wishes.

L.V.B. prohibits discriminatory or harassing conduct in all its programs.
