¡Especial Bilingual Storyteller Needed, Por Favor!
Speak Spanish and love children?
Our Children's Library needs a special volunteer to read bilingual storytimes for preschool and elementary age kids during the Summer Reading Program
(once a week for 7 weeks starting in June). Knowledge of Spanish children's stories and folk songs helpful.
Contact: Miss Bonnie @ 321-5441

"The whole point of books is to allow us to experience troubled realities that are different from our own, to feel the appropriate emotions, to empathize, to make judgments, and to have our interest held. If we sanitize everything children read, how much more shocking and confusing will the real world be when they finally have to face it?"

- Quote from Reading Magic by Mem Fox, children's author and former Associate Professor of Literacy Studies at Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia.
