Requests
for information or materials not found in the library's collection or
from electronic resources available at the library will be referred
for interlibrary loan.
Patrons requesting books are required to have a Bastrop Public Library
card in good standing. Patrons requesting periodical articles or copies
from reference materials must provide a good daytime telephone number,
and may request to have the information sent directly to their home
or other designated address.
Patrons
are responsible for providing adequate information to library staff
to locate the book(s) or item(s) requested. Information required should
include proper spellings of author and title, subject, publisher, publication
date, and ISBN. Complete citation information, including author, title,
periodical source, date and/or volume and number, and page numbers should
be included for articles.
Requests
for materials or information are restricted to three at a time by one
patron. Subsequent requests may be submitted at the time an earlier
request is picked up at the library, or upon notification of inability
to complete request. No media other than books (such as video or audio
tapes or CDs) will be referred for interlibrary loan requests. When
available, staff will supply contact information for other sources of
non-book media.
It
is the patron's responsibility to check with library staff as to the
status of his/her interlibrary loan request. When requested materials
come in, staff will attempt to notify patron by telephone. Once notified,
patron has five (5) working days to pick up the requested material(s),
after which time the material(s) may be returned to the lending institution.
At the discretion of the Library Director, patrons who repeatedly request
items that are not picked up may be barred from placing further interlibrary
loan requests.
Patrons
will be notified of the due date of interlibrary loan materials at the
time the item(s) are picked up. It is the responsibility of the patron
to return these materials on time. No overdue notices will be issued.
Any patron failing to return interlibrary loan materials in good condition
will be charged replacement costs, plus processing fees, as billed by
the lending library.
